Welcome to the fifth issue of Honeyguide Literary Magazine. We are thankful for the love and support of our supporters and followers over these last three years. For a while, I didn’t think we would be able to sustain this magazine, but we’re still moving forward, thanks to you.

     This collection is one we’ve wanted to publish since we started in 2020. It focuses on animals as aware, beautiful beings who are in tune with their environment and us humans. Each piece unveils the constraints and preconceived notions we have placed on certain animals to reveal how intelligent, sentient, and agentic they are. I’ve held this belief since childhood, yet this collection humbled me. Previous issues have taught us lessons, and others made us rethink what we believe about animals. This one called me to pay attention and hold myself accountable.

     I’m so grateful to each of these contributors for entrusting us with their work. I hope you enjoy this collection as much as we have.
