Poetry

the river roars,

crashes against

rocks, pebbles, and trees.

somewhere, within the current,

a tadpole swims,

leaps from lilypad to lilypad

as flies and mosquitos

buzz in frenzy, try

to escape the dart

of its little tongue.

the wind hisses,

rain floods houses

buckets, pans, and towels

line kitchen tables, basement floors

among the chaos,

a crocodile floats gently,

closes his eyes

its nictitating membrane

at peace with the vibration of OM.
